Week-long event will reach 10 island cities

"This will be an opportunity for locals and visitors to see the best films from all over the world," says Nereida de la Torre, project developer for the event.

As in previous years, the festival will have a Caribbean Competition and Previews of World Cinema. This year's Caribbean Competition will include Central American movies, which means movies from: Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala.

The World Cinema Previews will cover virtually all the continents, with films from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. de la Torre, adds that there will be a number of prize winners from other international competitions.

There will be a number of special categories such as "Film and Gastronomy," Women Directors," and "Music in Films," and an animated film for children, which will be offered free of cost.

"It is a vibrant program that will appeal to everyone," she says, adding that there would be forums, lectures and roundtables for filmmakers.
